Blow Wind Blow
Manor Park Golf Club in the Hutt Valley sits on the river flats with the Hutt River on the eastern boundary and the railway line and motorway to the west. If you like long golf holes this is the place for you. It claims to be the longest course in New Zealand when played off the white tees. Just shy of 5,900 metres for a par 71. Throw in a howling Nor'wester just adds to the fun.
This par 4 measuring 396 metres off the whites, played into the wind was typical of what we all faced today. It's not even stroke hole 1 !!
Not A Difficult Day For The Sheriff ...
First up Deano is having his breakfast at the hotel and then proceeds to nab 2 sausages which he put in his left-hand trouser pocket and a vegemite sandwich which went in the other pocket. Apparently some ladies in the hotel thought Deano looked like a tripod as he walked back to his room ....

Then on the third hole John Marsh skewed his tee shot into the car park where it made a sizeable dent in a parked car. Doing the decent thing John went to the pro-shop to report his error. The chap came out, had a look and said "ah, that's nothing - stupid place to park a car anyway .." As John and his group played up the 18th there was a man waiting by the side of the green. "Oh no" thought John. Expecting an altercation John was pleasantly surprised when it was a family member of one of his playing group.
Here's A Happy Wozza
Here's Wozza having just teed off after finishing the third hole - a par 5.

Get this. Wozza made birdie on the par 5 chipping in from off the green for a very nice 4. Not only that Wozza's handicap gave him 2 shots for the hole.
That'll be 4 for 5 !!
Trust Me I'm A Doctor - It's Healthy
After a tough day at Manor Park, the boys relocated to the local watering hole - The Old Bailey - to watch the All Blacks do battle against the Springboks in the rugby test. We had food and ale to help the rugby along.

What A Stupid Place To Hit A Tee Shot ...
Here's a man surveying the damage from an errant tee shot and wondering what happens next. A penalty drop I'd suggest is the order of the day. I think history will record he had 1 stableford point on his card after 4 holes.

Scoring was tough with the average score today in the mid 20s. The Phantom was trimmed back from 33 points to 30 points in an attempt to even out the competition. Even at 30 points he was good value to have on your team.
​
For the record, the low marker score so far is a paltry 18 points recorded yesterday at The Farm. That said, there were multiple people today worried they were going to challenge that score such was the difficulty of the day.
Congratulations to those who notched over 30 points - A great effort.
