From Yesterday .......

Don't have a picture of this from yesterday which is a shame .....

Deano was killing time meandering past the lake BUT NOT LOOKING FOR GOLF BALLS OK !! But the golf balls in the lake couldn't help looking at Deano.  "Here I am" they cried from their underwater grave.  Deano couldn't help himself, "if there are golf balls looking for a new owner, then why not me" thought Deano. There had been a bit of rain and the rocks around the lake were slippery to say the least.  Deano was looking in the water, was standing on one rock and went to stand a bit closer and stood on the second rock.  This second specimen was a bit slippery, Deano lost his feet and ended up standing knee deep in the lake.

So with water up to his knees, Deano retrieved the balls hoping to find a couple of sparklers.  Alas the balls retrieved had been around the block a few times, weren't worth keeping, and all Deano ended up with for his troubles were wet feet and squelchy golf shoes.

Then There's The Sheriff

This story might cost me but what the heck.

Prior to departure, our sheriff had sent out an e-mail advising tourists of the various misdemeanours which would incur a fine.  Fair enough too, forewarned is forearmed.  One such misdemeanour was the use of mobile phone in a communal space.

Here we see Brucey tucking into his tucker at the local surf life saving club just across the road.  Bruce is clearly engrossed in the tastiness of his next mouthful, yet what of our sheriff ?  He's not looking at his phone is he ?  He's not being shot by a bullet of his own smelly brown stuff is he ?

Now if the sheriff was smart, he would figure out who took the photo which dobbed him in.  In doing so he could apply a hefty fine to that individual.  Is the sheriff that smart we ask ?

Golf At No Hope Island

The weather was still a bit scruffy as we headed north to Hope Island.  We were advised the locals had abandoned their weekly game and that we would have the course to ourselves.  All good and much like yesterday there would be the odd passing shower but it wouldn't be too bad.

Today we played a new game.  With 3 people in each team counting, we played a modified stableford.  For a net par you scored zero points.  For a net bogey it was worth minus 1, and an outer scored you minus 3.  On the up side a net birdie was worth 2 points, and a net eagle was worth 5 points.  Got it ?

So when it came to the results, we had no idea what might be a good score.  In the end I can advise the following;

One team came last with a score of minus 21, third was a team who scored minus 17, second was minus 15, and the winners came home 30 points clear with plus 15 points.  A fun day out even if it did take a while.
