28 Degrees - Sunshine - YES !!
And so Day 1 of the tour arrived. After a decent night of sleep - except if your name is Neil Cameron - the bus departed at a reasonable hour for Noosa Tewantin. Keen anticipation and nervous chatter made the 20 minute ride up the coast most enjoyable.

Poor old Neil had a 5 hour delay on his trans - Tasman flight meaning he only arrived in Brisbane at 11pm last night. Then he had to collect his luggage and take a shuttle up the coast meaning he jumped into bed here at 2 am local time.
Here's is yours truly hitting the opening drive of the 2023 Queensland tour. The course at Noosa was a decent track not far short of 5,900 metres long. The greens were tricky and a lot faster than we are all used to. Scoring was not easy, and to be honest, anyone who returned a card with 30+ points had played well.
Try and Avoid the Kangaroo
Here's Athol trying to feed one through the eye of a needle and make a play. If you look closely in the distance you can see a kangaroo lying down eating a bit of grass. Athol's task was to avoid hitting the trees and the kangaroo which he managed quite successfully. There was actually a fair bit of native wildlife and we were left in no doubt geography wise where we were. Apart from the roos on the first tee we were serenaded by a large flock of sulphur crested cockatoos, and halfway round about a dozen kookaburras made a heck of a din.
The Eliminator
We played The Eliminator today and some teams handled it better than others. In reading out the scores, Phil's team got very excited to announce they had notched up 42 points. Then the last team announced their score of 43 points and as you can see, they were quite happy.
The Individual Winner
This achievement is worthy of some attention. Having said that a 30+ score was a creditable performance, our low handicapper today was Hubby with 3 shots to his name. Out in regulation 36 shots with only a couple of wee stumbles on the back nine, we can all agree that 36 points was a great performance and score.

Well done Paul Hubbard.
And Finally ....
The local Surf Live Saving Club was humming tonight but we found our tables. The fare was predictable and the beer was cold.

The Aussies are still high on the women's world cup victory over the French and the chat is all about the semi final clash with England on Wednesday. I cannot believe that some in the group are contemplating supporting Australia this week - seriously. How can you get behind an under arm, sandpaper loving, ball tampering nation such as this and keep your morals intact. I'm shocked.
