What Was He Thinking ?
Now some targets are easier than others and sometimes people give you a free kick at goal. Here we have the old Sauvignon Banana Man himself deep in thought contemplating what might lie ahead during the day. Or was his mind miles away elsewhere dreaming of other things. Who knows ?
Peregian Springs - Here We Come
Today we were a bit closer to Mooloolaba and it wasn't a long drive to Peregian Springs. Not quite to the same standard of the courses over the last couple of days but nevertheless a decent test of golf. Today we played the coloured ball challenge which always brings an air of tension to the day's procedings.
As can be seen the skies were not as clear as the last few days and the temperatures were a degree or two cooler. No bad thing. This the 16th hole which we played, a longish par 4 which played as stroke hole 1. After a decent drive I still had a long shot to the green and pulled out the 3 wood to try and get me home.

On the left hand side you can perhaps pick out a row of houses, some fences, a swimming pool, and some red pegs marking out a water hazard. Given we were towards the end of the day and all was essentially lost, I let rip with a big swing, and as happens typically when I try and hit it too hard, the ball sails away to the right. "That's over the fence" said Deano. "Nah it's all good" I replied,.
So we went and had a look and sure enough the ball had sailed over the fence and found a friend at the bottom of a swimming pool in somebody's garden. "So what's the story here ?" I innocently enquired. "If there are red pegs then this is some kind of water hazard and where should I take a drop ?" The reply was short and sweet. "Mate" they said in true Aussie fashion, "if you're in somebody's swimming pool you're out of bounds. "Oh yeah" I agreed.

Luckily it wasn't the coloured ball. We all agreed that if the coloured ball had gone in the drink and it was the 16th hole, the person who made the shot would have been sent to climb the fence, remove whatever clothing was necessary and retrieve the ball. Phew .....
Not Many Balls Made It Home ...
So the challenge of the game is to keep your ball in play as long as possible and score as many points as possible. Some of these balls might have been lost without ever having been hit properly. Despite their bright vivid colours, the water and the undergrowth ate these balls up, and it's a brave man who goes stomping around in the undergrowth over here looking for golf balls.
Here are our winners celebrating their victory and collecting the major prize for the day. Good stuff and well done.
Go The Matildas
Tonight we had an early feed at the surf living club so as we could watch the eagerly anticipated soccer football game between The Matildas of Straya against the Lionesses of Mother England. I must say it's been an interesting dynamic watching New Zealand men trying to decide who shall I support tonight - England or Australia ? Let's face it, most have a pathological dislike of both nation's sporting teams. It's not been easy.
It's a good job the football was riveting and the match of high quality or else Lefty 2 might have had the last few nights catching up on him .....
